The hardware is the biggest difference between the two internet TVs. Apple has a small box which is half the size of imac mini. The remotes of the two televisions are class apart with the remotes of the two television sets going for minimalist and the extreme buttoned. Apple iTV’s remote has very few buttons which has long been Apple’s approach. Google TV’s remote for Logitech has a complete qwerty keyboard in the remote and can not be used easily by one hand. Google is not selling Google TV by itself, but it is offering other television manufacturers a chance to produce sets that will include the software created by Google TV. Apple iTV is selling the units by itself and will control the content of the sets on its own. As far as the software is concerned, Apple TV will stream content from the iTuens store by using the iTunes applications. Since it runs on the iOS operating system that powers iPhone and iPads. Google on the other hand will mix the traditional television experience with the multimedia of the internet. It is an attempt to completely replace the home set top box. Google gives the user access to full internet on their television sets which makes this a better option for those who spend most of their time fluctuating between two screen the same way you are most probably doing right now.
